The Time Difference Report is a valuable tool for agencies to use to ensure that the Palm handhelds that are being used have the correct time and date set.
Every computer’s clock and calendar are set to a time and date (Figure 7.17).

Figure 7.18 – Time and Date on Palm HandheldThe time and date on the PC can differ from the time and date on a Palm Handheld by only minutes, or by hours or days. In the example above, the clock on the Palm handheld is 27 minutes ahead of the time on the PC.
The Time Difference Report has four columns:
Column Heading Explanation Student ID The Student ID associated with the Palm handheld that was synchronized. +/- Hrs:Mins The number of hours and minutes that the clock on the Palm handheld is ahead (+) or behind (-) the clock on the PC Last Synchronization The date and time that the student’s Palm handheld was last synchronized <None> There is a message here if the clock on the Palm handheld and the clock on the PC differ by more than one hour. For accurate recordkeeping, it is important to periodically ensure the time and date are correct on the PC and on each of the student’s Palm handhelds.
