To function properly and effectively, the Palm handheld must have sufficient battery power while it’s being used and the Trial data stored on the handheld must be transferred to the agency PC on a regular basis.
Mobile Thinking recommends that the Palm handheld be recharged wherever the Palm handheld is stored at night (similar to how a cordless telephone is placed in its base when not in use). Most Palm handhelds ship with a HotSync cradle (Figure 19.1).
Figure 19.1 – Palm HotSync CradleWhen a Palm handheld is in the HotSync cradle, the Palm handheld recharges and you can complete a HotSync operation. If a Student has a Palm handheld that ships with a HotSync cradle, the cradle should be assigned to the Student so that the Student’s Palm handheld can be recharged at night.
Some models of Palm handhelds ship an AC adapter (#7 in Figure 19.2) and a separate HotSync cable (#6 in Figure 19.2), instead of a HotSync cradle.
