mTrial on the PC has two items in the menu bar: File and Help. All of the options available under each item are explained below.

 

File/Export Student List

Choose Export Student List... from the File menu (Figure 8.1) to save to a file a list of all student information.

When you save the Student List, you’ll be asked to choose a file name and a location, using a standard Windows® dialog box (Figure 8.2). The file for the Student List are formatted so it can be easily opened with popular spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft® Excel.

File/Export Tutor List

Choose Export Tutor List... from the File menu (Figure 8.3) to save a list of all tutor information to a file.

When you save the Tutor List, you’ll be asked to choose a file name and a location, using a standard Windows® dialog box (Figure 8.2). The file for the Student List are formatted so it can be easily opened with popular spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft® Excel.

 

File/Export Student Data...

It is important for archiving purposes, and perhaps for legal purposes to export the raw data for a student, from time to time. Choose Export Student Session Data... from the File menu (Figure 8.4) to save to a spreadsheet all Session Data for a selected student.

After you chose Export Student Session Data... from the File menu, you’ll need to select a student from a menu (Figure 8.5).

Only those Student Accounts whose status is set to Active () will have their Student IDs appear in the menu in Figure 8.5.

If you choose to export session data for an unregistered student, you will see a warning that mTrial will export up to 100 records for unregistered students. All session data remains intact in the mTrial database, but cannot be exported (beyond the 100 session limit) unless the Student Account is registered.)

File/Preferences

You can set the formats for how time and dates are displayed in mTrial. Choose Preferences... from the File menu (Figure 8.7) to open the mTrial Preferences window (Figure 8.8).

You can choose to display the date in one of four different formats (Figure 8.9) and you can display the time in one or two formats (Figure 8.10).

Wherever time and dates are displayed in mTrial, they will be displayed according to the formats selected in mTrial Preferences.

 

File/PDA Password

Choose the PDA Password menu item to set a password on the Student’s handheld.

When you see the PDA Password screen (Figure 8.12), type a password in the text field if you want to require users to enter a password to be able to use mTrial on the PDA. If the text field is blank, there will be no password on the PDA.

File/Exit

Choose Exit... from the File menu (Figure 8.13) to close mTrial.

Choose mTrial Help from the Help Menu (Figure 8.14) for information on how to access mTrial help documentation.

Help/About Mobile Thinking mTrial

Choose About Mobile Thinking mTrial from the Help menu (Figure 8.15) to get information on copyright, patent, and version number for mTrial for Discrete Trial Method.
