The Palm handheld may be assigned to the Student, in which case the tutors find their names in the Tutor menu (Figure 11.1). Or, the Palm handheld may be assigned to the Tutor, in which case the tutor finds the name of the student in the Student menu (Figure 11.2).

In either case, after the correct tutor and student names are chosen, tap the Begin Visit button (Figure 11.3) to sign in so that the data that are subsequently recorded can be attributed properly.

After you select your name tap Begin Visit highlighted in the lower left corner of the screen, to advance to the next screen.

Before you tap the Begin Visit button, you should ensure that the correct time and date are displayed on the Begin Visit screen. mTrial records the time and date that Tutors begin and end each visit, and records the time that sessions start and stop. Once the time and date are recorded by mTrial, they cannot be modified. If the time and date are incorrect on the Begin Visit screen, tap the time and date display to go to the screen and make any necessary corrections.
